Eth0 is a high-tech geek conference. It aims toward sharing knowledge on technology/IT related fields including security, networks, programming, privacy, new (open) technologies, ethics and hacking. At daylight there are [[Eth0:2013_winter_talks|talks]] on these subjects, but when the sun goes down its definitely time to pick up the slack. There will be enough to do, as we have a bonfire, a fully equipped [[lounge]] (with bar) and an overload of hackerspace activity. Maybe someone brings along lasers and there is room to party. Enough reason to pick up the slack and go to eth0:2013 Winter?

== Basic info ==
So, basically, we'l be gathering again at the '''awesome''' location we visited last year. There will be talks, workshops, '''awesome''' maker machines and the best of all we will meet all our friends and fellow hackers.

The event will start on friday 6pm, and run until the sunday around 6pm. There will be plenty of hacking and talking time. Obviously as we would love to get all your projects, we have plenty of space available for you to display your projects, on and off-stage.

All rooms have heating in the floors, are newly built, and should be plenty cozy for everyone.

For the [[Scavenger_hunt_2012|eth0:2012 summer scavhunt]] one of the challenges was to aleviate our real life bug problem.

As the eth0 summer site is located in a forest next to a lake an unprecendeted amount of flying critters had made their way to the camp in search of blikenlights while in the process annoying the hackers. However, before the bugs where capable of mounting a propper attack, two (Eighdot, Sa007) of the visitors devised a plan to create the largest [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bug_zapper bug zapper] ever seen.

There's a floodlight inside the now reused microwave oven instead of the microwave tube that used to be there as we have no intentions of frying the visitors. As the floodlight is connected to the two sides of the zapper it lights up as soon as a bug "closes" the circuit.

On 15 august 2012, around 9 pm, a massive storm flew over the terrain of [[Eth0:2012_Summer]].

There where many casualties, but notably the village [[Village:Idiopolis²|Idiopolis²]] survived it unscathed. {{Pics_or_it_did_not_happen}}

The 2011 winter event follows previous winter events; it's a light-conference; with workshops, great atmosphere, a lounge, and retro gaming.

We have room for up to 120 people, who can hack, slack, lounge, share, learn, tinker, code, etc. for 48 hours straight, on 3 separate days.

We need '''a lot''' of people during buildup & teardown. Stuff needs to be carried, tents and scaffolding have to be set up and the terrain needs to be cleaned up afterwards.

If you consider to help during buildup, please also consider being there on teardown. A maximum of 20 people can join buildup and teardown. When you decide to help, you're allowed on the terrain earlier and you can stay longer. Building the event together is fun and you can see progress happening.

Signing up is possible via the [[BuildupSummer2010|WhoWhen]] list. Contact [[User:Pluisje|Pluisje]] for detailed info on helping. There's a lot that needs to be done and you're also very welcome if you've never done this before.

* 1 or 2 people on standby to oversee the storage when aequitas is busy. Please bring your own defensive weapons.

== Pictures / media ==
We want to have a good overview of what happened on eth0. This includes pictures of various activities such as the scavhunt, lectures, bbq, lounge, retro, the area and etcetera. We expect there will be lots of visitors with cameras, so that will make things easier. Basically your job is to make pictures and upload them to a public share. The result will be used on our wiki, frontpage and future eth0 publications.
