Eth0 is a high-tech geek conference. It aims toward sharing knowledge on technology/IT related fields including security, networks, programming, privacy, new (open) technologies, ethics and hacking. At daylight there are [[Eth0:2019_autumn_talks|talks]] on these subjects, but when the sun goes down its definitely time to pick up the slack. There will be enough to do, as we have a bonfire, a fully equipped [[lounge]] (with bar) and an overload of hackerspace activity. Maybe someone brings along lasers and there is room to party. Enough reason to pick up the slack and go to eth0:2019 Autumn?

So, basically, we'll be gathering again at the '''awesome''' location we visited the last few years. There will be talks, workshops, '''awesome''' maker machines and the best of all we will meet all our friends and fellow hackers.

The event starts on Friday 6pm, and will be open until the Sunday around 6pm. There is be plenty of hacking and talking time. Obviously as we would love to get all your projects, we have plenty of space available for you to display your projects, on and off-stage.

There will be an auction for the 1% and -if there's more demand than availability- 2% room. The auction will be held via this wikipage.

The bids are ranked by price. (and time)

There are two auctions:
Auction 1 for the 1% rooms, 2-3 single beds, room incl private shower and toilet:
the highest 7 bidders will win a 1% room. Start bid: 100 euro
Action 2 for the 2% rooms, 2-8 bunkbeds, usage of general showers and toilet:
the highest 10 bidders will win a 2% room. Start bid: 60 euro

There's one 1% room with three beds. Please state with your bid if you're particularly
interested in this room. If multiple people are interested, the room will be assigned
according to bid and time (first and highest bidder first)

The highest bidder can choose the room the first (potential excluding the 3-bed 1% room)
The room can be shared with as many people as there are beds in that room. Further plans
are up to the winner, but all people included must have a normal ticket.

The auction for the 1% rooms will be held till the 7th of February 2016, 23:59 o'clock (CET)
The auction for the 2% rooms will be held till the 12th of February 2016, 23:59 o'clock (CET)

De 2% auction will be open a couple days longer, in case people want this as backup if the 1%
room doesnt work out

All profits will be to do fun stuff with by Stichting Eth0

Participation is only open for people who are already in possession of a normal Eth0:winter:2016 ticket.
The outcome of this auction is only applicable to the distribution of 1% and 2% rooms during Eth0:winter 2016.

Limesco is a new mobile phone-netwerk for geeks, IT-specialistS, software-developers and hackers.

Building software to design and cnc-mill houses out of plywood.

This talk centers around the posibilities of creating open source software as
a team, which by now is a tried and tested technique, and combining that school
of thought with the upcoming tools to macnufacture real-world objects using that
code. Both of these have been known to work together pretty good, but most are
not reaching for the same size of "real world" applications we are dreaming of.

We would like to present our project, and ideas around bulding full-size
buildings using (self build) 3 axis cnc cutters, Sheets of plywood, and code to
automatically generate all the requiered building blocks.

Discussing tools and solutions for explaining privacy to regular internet users.

On how to build or adept tools for web-publishing so they take privacy into consideration by design.

This talk is about the conflict that can arise between getting your
message out there, and trying to maintain your audience's right to
privacy. In the last couple of years, with the dramatic increase in the
use of social media, often one of the most effective ways of spreading
your message to a large group of people has become to foster a community
using existing social networks, like Facebook or Twitter.

The problem with using these services is that, while convenient, they
also snoop on your audience’s private data. These companies make their
money by creating and selling detailed profiles to marketers, so that
they can effectively target their ads. Often these services run their
own ad service as well, as is the case with Facebook and Google. Later
on, this data can come back to hunt you. Let’s say you’ve been searching
on Google for some serious illness or disease. You can imagine what your
health insurance company would do, had it access to this information. Up
the premiums or deny you insurance altogether.

Sander Venema was asked by Annie Machon to redesign her website in early
2012. We took special care in avoiding common traps that can compromise
the security and privacy of the site’s visitors when designing the new
site.

In his talk, Sander will talk about the special considerations that
come with building websites for whistleblowers with high security &
privacy needs, both for the owner/operator, and the visitors of the
site; discuss what the problem points are, and how we worked around
them to create a website that is both pretty, usable and as safe as
possible. He will also talk about domain security and governments
claiming jurisdiction over a domain name, even if the actual server is
not located in their country and the site isn’t aimed specifically at
their citizens. There have been several cases in the past where
websites have been brought offline because of this.

Eth0 is a high-tech geek conference. It aims toward sharing knowledge on technology/IT related fields including security, networks, programming, privacy, new (open) technologies, ethics and hacking. At daylight there are [[Eth0:2014_winter_talks|talks]] on these subjects, but when the sun goes down its definitely time to pick up the slack. There will be enough to do, as we have a bonfire, a fully equipped [[lounge]] (with bar) and an overload of hackerspace activity. Maybe someone brings along lasers and there is room to party. Enough reason to pick up the slack and go to eth0:2014 Winter?

== Basic info ==
So, basically, we'l be gathering again at the '''awesome''' location we visited last year. There will be talks, workshops, '''awesome''' maker machines and the best of all we will meet all our friends and fellow hackers.

The event will start on friday 6pm, and run until the sunday around 6pm. There will be plenty of hacking and talking time. Obviously as we would love to get all your projects, we have plenty of space available for you to display your projects, on and off-stage.
